Proyecto de ordenación forestal del monte La Raya, término municipal de Descargamaría, Cáceres

Abstract

El monte La Raya es un caso típico de monte con coníferas donde su gestión ha sido abandonada hace varias décadas. Este hecho conlleva a que sus masas presenten espesuras excesivas y acumulación de existencias, fuerte desequilibrio de clases naturales de edad e inminente riesgo de incendios forestales. El método de ordenación por rodales parece en principio ser una solución satisfactoria por su enorme flexibilidad. No obstante, se han de necesitar modelos selvícolas que sean realistas y se adapten a las circunstancias socioeconómicas de la región del monte. Planificar a corto-medio plazo es la única forma de adaptar la gestión a los cambios y vicisitudes en el monte y asegurar en cada momento su persistencia y estabilidad, rendimiento sostenido y máximo de utilidades. Como monte ordenado, se permite compatibilizar los usos protectores y productores, es decir, optimizar los aprovechamientos forestales sin merma de los recursos naturales que deben ser protegidos.

The forest called La Raya is a typical case of coniferous forest where its management has been abandoned several decades ago. For this reason, their woodlands have excessive densities and accumulation of stocks, strong imbalance of natural development phases and imminent risk of forest fires. The logging procedure by forest stands seems in principle to be a satisfactory solution because of its enormous flexibility. However, it is needed to apply realistic forestry models, which can be adapted to the socioeconomic circumstances of the forest region. Planning in the short-medium term is the only way to adapt the management to changes and vicissitudes in the forest and ensure at all times its persistence and stability, sustained forest yield and maximum profits. As ordered forest, it is possible to make compatible the protective and productive uses, that is, to optimize the forest uses without diminishing the natural resources that must be protected.
