| Abstract: | Este artículo aborda los antecedentes de Santa María la Mayor, de Mérida, catedral en principio visigoda según documentos conservados, localizada en el mismo solar en el que hoy se ubica la iglesia gótica de Santa María. Se explica por la habitual permanencia del culto en el mismo sitio.
El estudio analiza diferentes etapas de esta iglesia y nos muestra su arquitectura, escultura y pintura. This article deals with the antecedents of Santa María la Mayor, of Mérida, originally a Visigothic cathedral according to preserved documents, located on the same site where the Gothic church of Santa María is located today. It is explained by the habitual permanence of the cult in the same place. The study analyzes different stages of this church and shows us its architecture, sculpture and painting. |
