Menelao como protagonista: "O corpo de Helena" de Paulo José Miranda

Abstract

O Corpo de Helena (1998), de Paulo José Miranda, supone una importante innovación literaria al convertir a Menelao en protagonista de una obra teatral. Tras repasar la presencia de este héroe, especialmente en la literatura griega de época arcaica y clásica, analizaremos en este estudio el simbolismo, las fuentes y los personajes de esta breve pieza teatral portuguesa con la intención de rastrear la presencia de la literatura griega en esta obra contemporánea y motivar los intereses del autor para recurrir a los antiguos héroes y dioses helénicos.

O Corpo of Helena (1998), Paulo José Miranda, is an important literary innovation when converting to Menelaus in the protagonist of a play. After reviewing the presence of this hero, especially in Greek literature of archaic and classical era, we will analyze in this study the symbolism, the sources and the characters of this short portuguese theater piece with the intention to trace the presence of Greek literature in this contemporary work and motivate the interests of the author to appeal to the ancient Hellenic gods and heroes.
