Relecturas del teatro popular en la vanguardia teatral de los años 60

Abstract

El artículo pretende mostrar los efectos que produce en el teatro de vanguardia la incorporación de pautas creativas del antiguo teatro popular español, del que algunos autores vanguardistas toman escenas, tipos funcionales y lenguaje.

El análisis se aplica a varios textos teatrales de Francisco Nieva y Luis Riaza, creados todos ellos en la década de los sesenta. Las pautas de antiguos espectáculos plenos de connotaciones festivas aparecen renovadas, al servir de continente a ciertos mensajes críticos sobre la sociedad española contemporánea, lo que no es incompatible con la propia fiesta liberadora en que puede devenir el texto.

This paper aims to show the effects produced in the “vanguardista” drama of the 1960s by the incorporation of the norms and conventions of Spanish popular theatre by some authors who borrow scenes, language and characters from the old dramatic spectacles.

Various plays by Francisco Nieva and Luis Riaza written in the 1960s are examined in order to show this intertextual relationship. The characteristically festive air of the old shows is renovated in becoming the framework for critical commentary on contemporary Spanish society, which is, in turn, not incompatible with the experience of festive liberation the text can become.
