Influencia del punto de oro sobre parámetros de juego en pádel profesional. Diferencias entre género, sets y rondas de juego

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo fue analizar la influencia de la regla del punto de oro en parámetros de juego en pádel profesional. Se analizaron mediante observación sistemática un total de 91 sets (47 femeninos y 44 masculinos) de las temporadas 2019 y 2020 del circuito profesional World Padel Tour. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron una mayor duración del set (p=.009), tiempo de descanso (p=.039), bolas de breaks (p=.005) y breaks (p=.018) en pádel femenino. Además, se observaron diferencias significativas en el tiempo de pausa en función del set (p=.009), siendo el tercer set en el que los jugadores realizan un mayor tiempo de pausa. La incorporación de la regla del punto de oro produjo un incremento en el número de juegos por set (p=.040). Por último, se encontraron diferencias significativas en el número de bolas de break (p=.013) en función de la ronda de juego. Concretamente se producen un mayor número de bolas de break en la final respecto a la ronda de cuartos de final (p<.005). En conclusión, la regla del punto de oro provocó un mayor número de juegos por set, sin afectar a otras variables, mucho más condicionadas por las características del juego según el género de los jugadores.

The aim of this study was to analyse the influence of the golden point rule on game parameters in professional padel. A total of 91 sets (47 for women and 44 for men) from the 2019 and 2020 seasons of the World Padel Tour were analysed by systematic observation. The results showed a higher duration of the set (p=.009), rest time (p=.039), break points (p=.005) and number of breaks (p=.018) in female padel. In addition, significant differences were observed in the rest time depending on the set (p=.009), being the third set in which the players made a longer rest time. The incorporation of the golden point rule produced an increase in the number of games per set (p=.040). Finally, significant differences were found in the number of break points (p=.013) depending on the game round. Specifically, there is a higher number of break points in the finals compared to the quarterfinal rounds (p<.005). In conclusion, the golden point rule produced a higher number of games per set, without affecting other variables, much more conditioned by the characteristics of the game according to the gender of the players.
