Memoria, metatexto y posthumanidad. Formas de pensar el cuerpo en las culturas hispánicas

Abstract

Este libro surge de los debates sobre las diversas perspectivas críticas hacia la corporalidad y la corporeidad mantenidos en el XVIII Congreso Internacional de la Asociación de Jóvenes Investigadores de la Literatura Hispánica (ALEPH), «Formas de pensar el cuerpo en las culturas hispánicas», del 22 al 25 de agosto de 2022 en la Universidad de Cambridge. En esta edición del congreso, más de sesenta ponentes expusieron sus trabajos sobre las múltiples maneras en las que las producciones culturales, tanto en Europa como en América Latina, han abordado el cuerpo desde la Edad Media hasta nuestros días. Dentro de la diversidad de perspectivas teórico-metodológicas debatidas, se destacaron cuatro líneas temáticas principales: «El cuerpo como instrumento de pensamiento»; «Cuerpo(s): normatividades y subjetividades»; «El cuerpo como ente histórico, político, social y simbólico»; y «Cuerpos no humanos, inhumanos y posthumanos». Cada uno de estos temas nos instó a examinar el rol de los cuerpos en la construcción y deconstrucción de divisiones sociales, culturales y políticas de gran relevancia: pasado y presente; cuerpo y mente; diferencias de género, clase, raza y especie. La estructura de este libro responde a la necesidad de abordar tales divisiones de manera crítica e integradora.

This book arises from the debates on the various critical perspectives on corporeality and embodiment held at the XVIII International Congress of the Association of Young Researchers in Hispanic Literature (ALEPH), "Ways of Thinking the Body in Hispanic Cultures", 22-25 August 2022 at the University of Cambridge. In this edition of the conference, more than sixty speakers presented their work on the multiple ways in which cultural productions, both in Europe and Latin America, have dealt with the body from the Middle Ages to the present day. Within the diversity of theoretical-methodological perspectives debated, four main thematic lines stood out: "The body as an instrument of thought"; "Body(s): normativities and subjectivities"; "The body as a historical, political, social and symbolic entity"; and "Non-human, inhuman and post-human bodies". Each of these themes urged us to examine the role of bodies in the construction and deconstruction of social, cultural and political divisions of great relevance: past and present; body and mind; differences of gender, class, race and species. The structure of this book responds to the need to address such divisions in a critical and integrative way.
