Philip II of Spain is an excellent historiographical object. The historians and essayists that have approximated to his person or context have told us about his particular world vision. The most popular historical research in Spain has been realized during the nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth century. This one seems to be very weakened in our days, not by the age of the techniques employed, but the subordination of their authors to a polemizacion on their own values that affected the outcome of their studies. |
