Abstract: | El grupo de esculturas de Luis Salvador Carmona que se encuentra en Estepa (Sevilla) cons-tata la categoría artística de uno de los escultores españoles más importantes del siglo XVIII. Su producción escultórica se inicia con un estilo propio del tradicional barroco castellano y andaluz, prosigue con la adopción de caracteres cortesanos de influencia italofrancesa, se adentra a con¬tinuación en la suntuosa estética rococó para finalmente ser partícipe de la mesurada corriente neoclasicista. The group of works signed by Luis Salvador Carmona, kept in several churches in Estepa (Sevilla), shows the high artistic levels achieved by one of the most eminent mid-eighteenth-century Spanish sculptors. Carmona’s artistic work started following the Castilian and Andalusian Baroque sculpture tradition, it continued with influences from the artistic tendencies of some European Courts, mainly the French and Italian Courts; later he joined the splendorous rococo aesthetic and culminated in the moderate neoclassical trend. |
