The songs of fine love represent something more than a poetic form for Western thought, they set in motion the idea of love as a beginning and an end, as a meaning of life. Idea that arises from a fundamentally Western and Christian cultural background. Love is not understood as a platonic relationship, but total and real and of course joyful, contrary to what is often believed. The unicorn is a symbol of this love in a West in the process of Christianization and symbolic reworking. |
