Throughout this article, we expose the importance of analyzing the self-concept of students with special educational needs associated with blindness or visual impairment. The ultimate goal of this interest would be the search for solutions or guidelines that allow a better and true integration of the blind and visually impaired student in the ordinary educational environment, in order to achieve full normalization and personal autonomy of the subject. We will be reeling off the normative bases on which the integration of students with special educational needs are based, and in turn, the references that this regulation makes of the psychosocial variables that have to facilitate said integration. We will specify a meaningful definition of the self-concept construct, and we will delve into the reality that our blind and partially sighted students experience when developing their own self-image in the school environment. |
