Los teatros: Difusores de la cultura en Don Benito

Abstract

Sin duda, los espacios más representativos del panorama cultural en Don Benito, a lo largo de su historia, han sido los Teatros. En este artículo analizaremos los que existieron, desde el último cuarto del siglo XIX, hasta nuestros días. Además de examinar cada edificio y su desarrollo artístico, destacamos la labor encomiable de los propietarios de los teatros, El Hospicio, Salón Moderno e Imperial, por ser, no sólo artífices de la concepción de los edificios como tales, sino por su gestión artística, como se irá viendo en el desarrollo de este estudio. Veremos, de forma general, los espectáculos ofrecidos en los teatros a lo largo de los años, marcados, en su mayoría, por el ciclo y calendario estacional, vinculados a tradiciones y celebraciones populares.

Undoubtedly, the most representative aspects of the cultural scene in Don Benito, throughout history, have been theatres. In this article, we will analyse those that existed since the last quarter of the nineteenth century until today. In addition to the analyse of each building and its artistic development, it is highlighted the commendable work of the theatre owners, in particular the Hospice, Modern Hall and Imperial ones, not only for being the designer of the buildings but also for its artistic management, as we will see in the course of this study. In general, we will see the shows offered in the theatres throughout the years, which were marked the seasonal cycle and calendar and linked to traditions and popular celebrations.
