Análisis de las condiciones de seguridad y salud en los invernaderos de la comunidad autónoma de Extremadura

Abstract

El sector agrario se caracteriza por la coexistencia de actividades muy diversas. El conocimiento de sus condiciones de seguridad y salud es profundo; sin embargo, no sucede igual con algunas de las actividades que lo componen, entre las que se encuentra la desempeñada en invernaderos. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es el estudio de las condiciones de seguridad y salud en los invernaderos de Extremadura (España). Se establece inicialmente una aproximación a su situación real debido a una ausencia significativa de bibliografía en materia preventiva. Para ello ha sido necesario iniciar una búsqueda de instalaciones invernadas en cada término municipal de la región, así como elaborar un cuestionario destinado a recabar información sobre las condiciones de trabajo inherentes a esta actividad. Los resultados obtenidos, procedentes tanto de las encuestas como de las mediciones efectuadas para determinar el ambiente físico en el interior de un invernadero tipo, confirman la existencia de un elemento de disconfort asociado a unos elevados niveles de temperatura y humedad relativa en primavera y verano. Tras el análisis realizado se puede concluir que las condiciones de seguridad y salud en los invernaderos revelan unos resultados desalentadores en numerosos aspectos, entre otros los relacionados con el cumplimiento de la vigilancia de la salud, la existencia de elementos tecnológicos facilitadores del trabajo, la temporalidad en el empleo, los salarios percibidos, la formación preventiva dirigida hacia el puesto de trabajo, los protocolos de manejo y aplicación de plaguicidas y la atención hacia los riesgos psicosociales.

The agrarian sector is characterized by the coexistence of various activities. The knowledge of the conditions of safety and health in the sector is profound; nevertheless, it doesn't happen the same to some of the activities that compose it sector, for instance the work in greenhouses. The main objective of this work is the study of the safety and health conditions in the greenhouses of Extremadura (Southwestern Spain). First of all, an approximation to the real situation of this subsector is established due to a significant absence of preventive literature. For this reason, it has been necessary to initiate a detailed search for this kind of facilities in each local council , as well as to prepare a questionnaire to collect information about the working conditions. The results obtained, from both the surveys and the measurements carried out to determine the physical environment inside a type greenhouse, confirm the existence of an element of discomfort associated with high levels of temperature and relative humidity during the spring and summer months. After the performed analysis it can be concluded that the conditions of safety and health in the greenhouses reveal disappointing results in many aspects, including those referred to observance of the health surveillance, the existence of technological elements that facilitate work, the temporality employment, the amount of salaries, the preventive formation towards the real job, the protocols of handling and application of pesticides and the attention towards the psychosocial risks, still not known for many workers and owners.
