Elementos mudéjares en la arquitectura doméstica de Cartagena de Indias (Colombia)

Abstract

El centro histórico de Cartagena de Indias como patrimonio histórico de la humanidad, es en Colombia el territorio más representativo del periodo virreinal en cuanto a sistema urbano y arquitectónico se refiere, donde se encuentran edificaciones civiles, religiosas y domésticas que han logrado pervivir con el paso del tiempo a partir de esfuerzos conjuntos entre sectores públicos y privados con miras al desarrollo sostenible de la ciudad y de la región. La tipología y técnicas constructivas heredadas, en buena parte, de la cultura andaluza enriquecieron el desarrollo urbano de la ciudad y otorgaron un matiz especial que hoy se mantiene y por el cual es considerado un destino excepcional a nivel mundial para el turismo cultural.

The historical center of Cartagena de Indias as a historical heritage of humanity, is in Colombia the representative territory of the virreinal period in terms of urban and architectural system, where there are civil, religious and domestic buildings that have survived with the passage of time from joint efforts between public and private sectors with a view to the sustainable development of the city and the region. The typology and constructive techniques inherited from the Andalusian culture enriched the urban development of the city and granted a special nuance that is maintained today and for which it is considered an exceptional destination worldwide for cultural tourism.
