Un viaje a través del tiempo. La configuración de un paisaje singular en Extremadura a través de sus caminos y puentes durante el siglo XVIII, y de su representación gráfica

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es el estudio del paisaje extremeño a través de sus puentes y caminos, estudiando para ello tanto las descripciones de los viajeros como los itinerarios que se hicieron a lo largo del siglo XVIII. Asimismo, uno de los elementos clave para el presente artículo ha sido el análisis de las representaciones gráficas del territorio, acudiendo a los dibujos conservados en el Archivo Histórico Nacional, a los grabados o a las publicaciones editadas sobre el particular. Con todo ello, hemos realizado nuestro singular viaje en el tiempo, tratando de reconstruir la visión del viajero en el siglo XVIII al llegar desde Madrid y atravesar las provincias de Cáceres y Badajoz

The aim of this work is to study the landscape of Extremadura through its roads and bridges, looking up both the descriptions of travellers as well as the itineraries undertaken throughout the 18th century. Likewise, one of the key elements of this article has been the analysis of graphic representations of the territory, studying the drawings preserved at the National Historical Archives and the engravings or publications on the subject matter. Through this, we have embarked on our particular journey through time, trying to rebuild the vision of a traveller in the 18th century when arriving from Madrid and passing through Cácers and Badajoz provinces.
