| Resumen: | Los edificios fortificados son un elemento frecuente en el modelo de poblamiento de La Serena (SO España) durante el inicio de la presencia romana. Se estudian aquí varios ejemplos, mostrando su diferente morfología y localizaciones. La investigación muestra que estas estructuras jugaron un complejo papel en la romanización de esta zona, así como en la economía y en el control político-militar del valle del Guadiana. Fortified buildings are frequent feature on the settlement pattern at "La Serena" region (SW Spain) during late pre-Roman and early Rom an times. Several examples are here studied, showing difierent morphology and locations. Research shows that they played a complex role on the romanisation of the area, as well as on the economy and the militar control of the basin of the Guadiana River. |
