Para la lingüística de vuestro diminutivo: los diminutivos como apreciativos

Abstract

Este artículo trata de explicar las funciones de los diminutivos españoles en la conceptualización de Coseriu sobre sistema, norma y habla. Se argumenta que los diminutivos (y también aumentativos) son expresión de actitud y no de tamaño, según lo propuesto anteriormente por Coseriu. Así, el artículo vincula el análisis de Amado Alonso sobre diminutivos a la teoría de Coseriu, pero sin alcanzar sus conclusiones.

This article tries to explain the functions of Spanish diminutives in terms of Coseriu's concepts of system, norm and speech. It is argued that diminutives (and also augmentatives) are the expression of attitude and not of size, as previously proposed by Coseriu. The article thus links Alonso's analysis of diminutives to Coseriu's theory without following the latter's conclusions.
