Abstract

Balzac no es un simple escritor, menos aún un hombre de letras, es más bien un hombre de conocimiento, un pensador. Pero lejos de contentarse con hacerse pasar por un pensador, demostró constantemente una ambición innegable filosófico-cinentífica al mismo tiempo que incluye a filosófos y estudiosos en su obra narrativa. Partiendo de estas premisas, el propósito del artículo es doble: estudiar la constitución de la figura del pensador en Balzac y la del erudito hombre de letras.

Balzac is not a simple writer, let alone a man of letters, he is rather a man of knowledge, a thinker. But far from being content to pass himself off as a thinker, he constantly demonstrated an undeniable philosophical-scientific ambition while including philosophers and scholars in his narrative work. Starting from these premises, the purpose of the article is twofold: to study the constitution of the figure of the thinker in Balzac and that of the learned man of letters.
