Análisis de la presencia de los clásicos en las bibliotecas públicas de Extremadura

Abstract

Las bibliotecas públicas son fundamentales en la actualidad para preservar y difundir los clásicos. Estas instituciones recolectan, conservan y brindan acceso a estas obras literarias atemporales. Además, organizan actividades como clubes de lectura y eventos relacionados con los clásicos, fomentando la discusión y la lectura. Así, promueven la educación y el enriquecimiento cultural de las comunidades al destacar la importancia y el impacto duradero de estas obras. Por ello, se ha tratado de analizar la presencia de estas obras en las colecciones a través de la Red de Bibliotecas de Extremadura mediante la selección de una muestra y aplicando el esquema de valoración Conspectus. Como principales resultados podemos decir que más de la mitad de las bibliotecas analizadas tienen en sus colecciones entre 8 y 15de los títulos seleccionados. Sin embargo, se aprecia una insuficiencia de formatos para llegar a todos los usuarios, posiblemente por la relación entre el número de habitantes de los municipios y las colecciones de sus bibliotecas. Debido a esto, la Red de Bibliotecas es una herramienta fundamental como catálogo colectivo en Extremadura porque facilita el acceso a estas obras independientemente de la colección y los habitantes de los municipios

Public libraries are essential today to preserve and disseminate the classics. These institutions collect, preserve, and provide access to these timeless literary works. In addition, they organize activities such as book clubs and events related to the classics, encouraging discussion and reading. So, they promote the education and cultural enrichment of communities by highlighting the importance and lasting impact of these works. For this reason, an attempt has been made to analyze the presence of these works in the collections through the Extremadura Library Network by selecting a sample and applying the Conspectus valuation scheme. As main results we can say that more than half of the libraries analyzed have between 8 and 15 of the selected titles in their collections. However, there is an insufficiency of formats to reach all users, possibly due to the relationship between the number of inhabitants of the municipalities and the collections of their libraries. Due to this, the Library Network is a fundamental tool as a collective catalog in Extremadura because it facilitates access to these works regardless of the collection and the inhabitants of the municipalities.
