Un geómetra extremeño del siglo XIX Ventura Reyes Prósper

Abstract

Los diversos intentos de demostrar el Quinto Postulado de Euclides condujeron a la creación de varios tipos de geometría no euclidiana en el siglo XIX. En este estudio, recorremos el itinerario histórico de estos intentos, desde el primer documento del comentarista Proctus Diadocus hasta la aparición de nuestro ilustre compatriota Ventura Reyes Prósper en el siglo XIX. La última parte de este estudio presenta las publicaciones de Ventura Reyes Prósper sobre Geometría.

The diverse attempts to demonstrate he Fifth Postulate of Euclid led to the creation of several types of Non-Euclidean Geometry in the XIXth century. In this study, we travel the historical itinerary of these attempts, from the first document by the commentator Proctus Diadocus until the appearance of our distinguished compatriot Ventura Reyes Prósper in the XIXth century. The last part of this study is an analysis of Ventura Reyes Prósper's publications on Geometry.
