La noción de «transitividad» del s. IV a. C. al s. VI d. C.: la conformación de la categoría

Abstract

Este estudio determina, de manera sistemática, la génesis y trayectoria de conformación de la noción de «transitividad» desde los primeros apuntes embrionarios del concepto en la filosofía griega hasta la ampliación y desarrollo de la categoría en las fundamentales e influyentes “Institutiones grammaticae” de Prisciano a finales del primer cuarto del siglo VI. La investigación señala en cada etapa y autor estudiados las dependencias y deudas con el periodo precedente, así como las contribuciones y aportes originales con mayor repercusión posterior. Además, en las diferentes obras y textos analizados se subrayan las contradicciones y dificultades en la delimitación e interpretación del concepto, germen, sin duda, de la problemática asociada al fenómeno de la «transitividad» en la lingüística moderna.

This study establishes, in a systematic way, the genesis and formation process of the notion of transitivity, from the first embryonic notes of the concept in Greek philosophy to its extension and development in the fundamental and influential work of Priscian “Institutiones grammaticae”, at the end of the first quarter of the 6th century. The research outlines the dependencies and debts of the preceding period for each stage and author studied, as well as the original contributions that had the greatest subsequent impact. Likewise, the contradictions and difficulties in delimiting and interpreting the concept are highlighted in the different works and texts analysed; difficulties which are, without a doubt, the root of many problems associated with the phenomenon of transitivity in modern linguistics.
