Una utopía constructiva: Proyecto de un palacio en el Cáceres del siglo XVIII que no se llegó a realizar

Abstract

El Marqués de Ovando, un noble extremeño, envió una serie de cartas con croquis adjuntos a su hermano D. Alonso Pablo Solís y al Concejo de Cáceres en el siglo XVIII, proponiendo la construcción de un palacio en la villa. Estas cartas, fechadas entre 1744 y 1748, detallan la estructura e infraestructura del proyecto, así como las interacciones socio-políticas, económicas y técnicas implicadas. Sin embargo, el proyecto no se realizó porque el Concejo ya había concedido el solar a otro peticionario.

The Marqués de Ovando, a nobleman from Extremadura, sent a series of letters with attached sketches to his brother D. Alonso Pablo Solís and the Council of Cáceres in the 18th century, proposing the construction of a palace in the town. These letters, dated between 1744 and 1748, detail the structure and infrastructure of the project, as well as the socio-political, economic, and technical interactions involved. However, the project was not carried out because the Council had already granted the land to another petitioner.
