Descartes y las “pasiones del alma”

Abstract

Descartes tuvo un vivo interés por la filosofía práctica, cuyas ramas eran la mecánica, la medicina y la moral. Sin embargo, se resistió durante mucho tiempo a escribir sobre moral. Sólo a instancias de la princesa Isabel de Bohemia y, en cierto modo, gracias a sus preguntas y objeciones, el francés escribe sobre cuestiones éticas, tales como la pasión, el juicio, el libre arbitrio, la buena voluntad, etc. En este breve estudio nos proponemos abordar el nuevo orden moral que Descartes introduce y qué significado tiene la pasión de la generosidad, que vendrá a ser en la moral cartesiana la forma de toda virtud.

Descartes had an alive interest into practical philosophy, which branches were mechanics, medicine and moral. Nevertheless, it refused for a long time to write on moral. Only at the instances of the princess Elizabeth of Bohemia and, by the way, thanks to her questions and objections, Descartes writes on ethical, such questions as passion, judgment, free will, the good will, etc. In this brief study we propose to approach the new moral order that introduces Descartes and what meaning has the passion of the generosity, which will come to be in the cartesian moral the form of any virtue.
