Nostalgia de un tiempo perdido: el mito del andrógino en dos artistas decadentes del movimiento simbolista belga, Rodenbach y Knopff

Abstract

El estudio hecho en este ensayo proporciona al lector una visión panorámica del mito andrógino desde su origen platónico. Partiendo de la teoría del estructuralismo figurativo, procede analizar el mito en los trabajos de tres artistas contemporáneos de la literatura francesa y belga. Balzac in Serafita, Rodenbach en Brugges the Dead and the pintor Knopff, que utilize un obsesivo “ leit motive” a lo largo de casi toda su producción plástica, influenciada, lo mismo que Rodenbach por las ideas del Simbolismo.

The study made in this essay tries to give the reader a general panoramic view about the myth of the Androgyne, from its platonic origins. According to the theory of the figurative structuralism, it proceeds to make an analysis of the myth in the work of three contemporary artists of French and Belgian literature: Balzac in Serafita, Rodenbach in Brugges the Dead and the painter Knopff, who uses it as an obsessive leit motive throughout almost all his plastic production, influenced, as Rodenbach, by the ideas of Symlolism.
