Abstract

En 1999 Eduardo de Hinojosa publicaba su estudio “El Derecho en el Poema del Cid” que influyó mucho en la obra de Ramón Menéndez Pidal. Se inicia así un cambio en la investigación filológica e histórico-jurídica en España. El estrecho parentesco entre la cultura y las instituciones españolas, en este caso las presentes en la obra del Cid, con las europeas de su tiempo está en la base de las enseñanzas de Menéndez Pidal. En este artículo se refuerza esta teoría ya que la cuestión que se plantea va más allá de reducir la relación del Cid con otros poemas a un mero tema de versificación. En un país de cultura mestiza, como es España, quizá no sea el mejor método de trabajo para entender su historia, el eliminar la raíz germánica para afirmar otras como la romana o la musulmana, sino asumir que todas dejaron su huella.
