La formación clerical y seglar en el obispado de Coria a finales de la Edad Media

Abstract

La enseñanza en los obispados peninsulares fue una materia recurrente durante la Edad Media. El Cisma de Aviñón trajo consigo la necesidad de una profunda reforma en el seno de la Iglesia para mejorar la formación del clero y, por consiguiente, la instrucción cristiana a los fieles a través de la predicación y el catecismo. La catedral se convirtió en el foco educativo y cultural del Obispado de Coria por la presencia de diferentes educadores en la escuela catedralicia, que enseñaban la doctrina cristiana y otros saberes a los estudiantes. La Reforma de Trento convirtió las escuelas catedralicias en seminarios.

Teaching in the mainland bishoprics was a recurring subject during the Middle ages. The avignon Schism brought about the need for deep reform within the church to improve the training of clergy and therefore christian instruction to the faithful through preaching and catechism. The cathedral became the educational and cultural centre of the Diocese of coria in the presence of different educators in the cathedral school, which taught christian doctrine and other knowledge to students. The Reform of Trent became the cathedral schools in seminars.
