Cartografía de lugares de interés geológico-geomorfológico en Extremadura

Abstract

La necesidad de protección y conservación del patrimonio geológico español ha llevado a los poderes públicos a la redacción de un marco jurídico que ampare su defensa. Para ello, se encargó al Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (IGME) la elaboración de un Inventario de Lugares de Interés Geológico a escala nacional. Sin embargo, debido a la geodiversidad existente en la Comunidad Autónoma de Extremadura, se hace necesaria la creación de un inventario a nivel autonómico, que englobe todos los Lugares de Interés Geológico (LIG) de Extremadura. Para ello se cartografiarán y se analizarán los 139 LIG extremeños inventariados, examinándose su localización, relación con otros LIG y el entorno en el que se sitúa, haciendo hincapié en el interés geomorfológico, estratigráfico y tectónico que domina en nuestra región.

The need for protection and conservation of the Spanish geological heritage has led the public authorities to draft a legal framework that protects their defense. For this, the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME) was commissioned to prepare an Inventory of Geological Interest Places at a national scale. However, due to the existing geodiversity in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, it is necessary to create an inventory at regional level, which encompasses all Geological Interest Places (LIG) of Extremadura. For this purpose, the 139 inventoried LTEs in Extremadura will be mapped and analyzed, examining their location, relationship with other LIGs and the environment in which they are located, emphasizing the geomorphological, stratigraphic and tectonic interest that dominates our region.
