Etiología y homoerotismo son el eje central de la obra fanoclea y guardan relación con la erudición e innovación de la literatura alejandrina. Fanocles ofrece interesadas versiones homoeróticas del mito griego, pero no se las inventa, sino que las individualiza y las dota de forma literaria.

Aetiology and homoerotism are the main axis of Phanocles’ poetry and they are associated with the erudition and the innovation of Alexandrian Literature. Phanocles presents interested homoerotic versions of the Greek myth; he does not invent these stories, but individualizes the myths and endows them with literary form.
