The powerful, political and manipulative morals that the ecclesiastical stratum exercised over art during the Baroque period in Spain in general, and particularly in Andalusia, reveals itself through the study of the legal texts published by different bishoprics. Said documents were adapted to meet the regulations established by the Council of Trent. The development and implementation of these regulations through the mandatory celebrations of synods, led to the elaboration and promulgation of the so-called "Synod Constitutions", thus keeping every individual diocese under the shelter of a superior doctrine. |
