masculino. Nowadays sports information is the most consumed by the users, but if we attend to the professionals who give us the information, we can see that there is great gender inequality in this profession both from a quantitative point of view, fewer women, and qualitative, without performing the same tasks. In spite of we are working to achieve the equality in the journalism, like in so many areas of the social and labor sphere, there are still differences in the sport information coverage in television depending on if the professionals are male or female. Male presence is notorious even if the focus is about professionals, men or women, and if it is on the protagonists of sports disciplines. An academic literature review that approaches these differences and reveals them, together with a compilation of public statements made by female sports journalists, in solvency media on gender constraints in the exercise of their profession, as well as an observation of a sample of five current sports television programs, in different modalities, which they allow us to respond to the difference in the role that female journalists play in the sports information industry in the 21st century. Female sports journalist plays a different role than her male counterparts. They are conditioned by their gender not only in the image that they project in the television programs but also in the professional role, far from the opinion field and focused on the informative support that sustains the male journalist. |
