Contributos de estudos com a escala para a avaliação do comportamento neonatal NBAS em Portugal

Abstract

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar estudios e investigaciones realizadas con la NBAS en Portugal. País donde, si bien aún queda mucho por hacer en el área, ya se utilizan instrumentos válidos para el trabajo de evaluación, estudio e investigación del desarrollo del recién nacido. Entre estos instrumentos se encuentra la NBAS, Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale, creada por Terry B. Brazelton, revisada en 1973 en 1984 y nuevamente en 1995 con la ayuda de J. Kevin Nugent. Esta escala no solo se utiliza en la evaluación y conocimiento de las habilidades individuales del recién nacido, sino que también se utiliza en trabajos que ayudarán a las interacciones iniciales entre padre, madre y bebé. Interacciones que favorecerán el desarrollo satisfactorio del recién nacido. El NBAS favorece, en estas interrelaciones, otra mirada al recién nacido. Permite verlo como un ser capaz, a nivel comportamental, y capaz de intervenir con las personas y el entorno que le rodea. Te permite ver y conocer al recién nacido como realmente es. A través de sí mismo y de las interacciones con los demás.

The aim of this work is to expose the portuguese studies and investigations done with the NBAS. Country where, although there is still much work to do, valid instruments are already used in the work of evaluating, studying and investigating the newborn’s development. Among these instruments, NBAS, Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale, created by Terry B. Brazelton, revised in 1984 and, again, in 1995 with the help of J. Kevin Nugent, stands out.This scale is used not only in the evaluation and knowledge of the newborn’s individual competencies, but also in works which will assist the initial interactions between the parents and the baby – interactions that will support the satisfactory development of the newborn. In these inter-relations, NBAS favors another look at the newborn. It allows us to see him as a capable being in the behavioral level, and capable of intervening with the surrounding people and environment. It allows us to see and know the newborn as he actually is. Through himself and his interactions with the other.

Este trabalho possui como finalidade apresentar estudos e investigações feitos com a NBAS em Portugal. País onde, apesar de ainda haver muito por fazer na área, já se utilizam instrumentos válidos para o trabalho de avaliação, estudo e investigação do desenvolvimento do recém-nascido. Entre estes instrumentos, encontra-se a NBAS, Neonatal Behavioral Assessement Scale, criada por Terry B. Brazelton, em 1973 revista em 1984 e novamente em 1995 com ajuda de J. Kevin Nugent. Esta escala não só é utilizada na avaliação e conhecimento das competências individuais do recémnascido, como também é utilizada em trabalhos que auxiliarão as interacções iniciais entre pai, mãe e bebé. Interacções que favorecerão o desenvolvimento satisfatório do recém-nascido. A NBAS favorece, nestas inter-relações, um outro olhar sobre o recém-nascido. Permite vê-lo como um ser capaz, a nível comportamental, e capaz de intervir com as pessoas e o meio que o rodeiam. Permite que se veja e conheça o recém-nascido como ele realmente é. Através dele próprio e das interacções com o outro.
